The RTÉ star shared the exciting news in an Instagram post on Thursday
Doireann Garrihy has announced her engagement to comedian Mark Mehigan.
The RTÉ star shared the exciting news in an Instagram post on Thursday, gushing that her beau is the love of her life.
She posted a photo of the pair, who appeared to be enjoying a walk through the park together, as she showed off her new diamond for the camera.
Doireann’s makeup-free face was glowing and her flawless red manicure complimented her new accessory.
Captioning the post, she wrote: “The love of my life,” adding a red heart and ring emoji.
Friends flocked to the comments to congratulate the happy couple on their big milestone.
Jennifer Zamparelli said: “Ah would ya stop!!! Gorgeous news. Congrats to you and Mark”.
James Kavanagh joked: “NOT EVEN A HEADS UP SO I COULD COMMENT ‘finally the news is out!’?!??????? But OMG!”
Rosanna Davison wrote: “Amazing news! Congratulations!!”
And Roz Purcell added: “This is unbelievable news, good man @mehiganmark”.
While Louise Cooney chimed in: “Awh huge congrats doireann, so happy for you both”.
Doireann and Mark were first linked together last December and officially confirmed their relationship the following month.
During the first episode of her podcast Doireann and Friends, the Castleknock woman welcomed her now-fiancé as a guest and spoke about how their relationship came to be.
They told listeners that Doireann had slid into Mark’s DMs first. Mark explained: “You launched a smiley face into my DMs. I immediately screenshotted it. Of course, a famous girl comes into your DMs.”
The Foxrock man then joked that he shared the message on his Instagram Close Friends, which prompted his other half to ask who had seen the DM.

Doing a hilarious impression of Doireann, he said: “Like brilliant. ‘Oh you're a misogynist now. You're a foul pig.
"’We're sleeping in separate beds now. We can't, it's a one-bedroom apartment we live in’.”
After letting the “scoop” about their living arrangements slip as part of the joke, Mark confirmed: “She's moved in with me.”
Mark recently moved into Doireann’s new Dublin home, which she purchased last year for a reported €490,000.
The three-bedroom semi-detached property sits just around the corner from her family home in Castleknock and was described as a “blank canvas” for the new owner when it was listed online.
